Video : BBC News Redesign

BBC News is one of the biggest sites in the UK, with over 6 million users per day and 1.3 billion page views per month. In this excellent talk from January’s ProductTank, Anthony Sullivan goes through the year long redesign his team completed in July 2010.

Despite incredible traffic numbers and high net promoter scores “in the low 60s” the goal was to renew the site for the first time since 2003, and the team wanted to make it more engaging and respond to changing user behaviour. The redesign was just the surface of the project, it also covered the Content Production System – BBC’s CMS for News and Sport.

This is not just a great deep dive into the work that went into the BBC News product, but also gives great insight into the management of complex products.
